Stress is Rush Hour in Nashville

Life in Nashville is not so bad, in fact, it's a pretty decent place to raise a family. Driving in Nashville, however, SUCKS!

It's Monday afternoon and the sun is shining. The drive home should be wonderful, right? Wrong. Some crazy drivers have wrecked and blocked an entire interstate system. It takes an hour and a half to get home, that's crazy, but what's more crazy is the guy who didn't get home for two hours. Then comes Tuesday and the rain. Oh rain, it's so needed but not so much during rush hour traffic with the lovely people of Nashville who freak completely out over rain. They can't drive too well when the sun is shining, much less when it rains. You've got the people who go 10 mph less than the speed limit because of fear and the ones who go 20 mph more than normal to get home faster and out of the rain. Who is the most dangerous? Both of them! Someone is always either impeding traffic or being a complete menace. Either way it makes the driving here treacherous!

One quick side note! Please learn how to merge people!! It's really simple. It's the zipper effect. Each person allows one car into the lane of traffic. You really don't lose anything by doing this and everyone gets to work safely and much less stressed. Remember the golden rule!

I once saw a report that in some over-congested cities, someone could spill his coffee at 6 a.m. and take his foot off the gas pedal for a half a second and it would have a ripple effect on traffic for HOURS. It's a shame that an accident slows traffic down so much, ESPECIALLY when it's on the side of the road. But people don't realize how much even the slightest rubbernecking slows everything down.
